Our Preferred Fibres
The fabrics we select shape the quality and character of every Cable garment. Our collections centre on premium natural fibres including Australian merino wool, cashmere, cotton and linen, chosen for their comfort, durability and performance.
These fibres form the foundation of Cable’s knitwear and ready to wear collections, creating pieces designed to be worn often and valued over time.
Merino Wool
Wool has long been central to our knitwear collections. Known for its natural warmth and breathability, wool helps regulate body temperature while remaining lightweight and comfortable to wear.
This versatile fibre is used across a range of Cable knitwear, coats, pants and tops, valued for its durability and ability to hold its shape over time.
Woolmark Certified Extra Fine Merino Wool
Our Heritage 365 collection is crafted from Woolmark Certified extra fine Australian merino wool, recognised globally as a mark of quality.
Extra fine merino fibres create knitwear with exceptional softness and a lightweight feel, while maintaining the natural performance of wool. The result is refined knitwear designed for everyday wear throughout the year.
Cashmere
Cashmere is valued for its exceptional softness and lightweight warmth. Sourced from the fine undercoat of cashmere goats, the fibre creates knitwear with a premium soft hand feel and natural insulation.
Our knitwear collections feature both pure cashmere, luxurious brushed cashmere styles and cashmere blends.
Mohair
Mohair is a natural fibre derived from the hair of the Angora goat, valued for its lightweight warmth and soft texture. Often blended with wool, it creates knitwear with a gentle handle and subtle texture.
Used in selected Cable styles, mohair brings softness while maintaining a light, airy feel.
Cashwool
Cashwool is a premium blended fibre combining wool and cashmere to enhance softness while maintaining the durability of wool.
The resulting yarn is knitted on fine gauge machines to create a lightweight knit with a smooth finish and comfortable feel. Used across Cable knitwear collections, Cashwool provides warmth, breathability and everyday wearability.
Cotton
Cotton is a natural fibre valued for its softness and breathability. Comfortable to wear and easy to care for, it is widely used across shirting, knitwear and everyday wardrobe pieces.
In knitwear, cotton is often blended with wool to create lightweight transeasonal styles.
A selection of Cable styles are crafted from Pima cotton, a premium variety known for its extra long staple fibres. These longer fibres create a smoother, stronger fabric with a softer feel and improved durability.
Linen
Linen is a natural fibre derived from the flax plant and is known for its lightweight feel and breathability.
Often used in warm weather styles, linen allows air to circulate easily while offering a relaxed texture that softens with wear.
