Our Heritage
Cable Melbourne was founded in 2007 by Georgina Austin, an Australian designer with a deep connection to the country’s wool industry. Designed in Melbourne, the brand is known for its knitwear and use of premium natural fibres, including Australian merino wool.
Georgina’s family heritage is closely tied to wool. Her great-great-grandfather founded Thomas S. Beaumont & Sons, a leading buyer of Australian superfine merino wool. This legacy spans four generations and continues to shape Cable Melbourne’s approach to fibre selection, quality, and craftsmanship.
Guided by this foundation, Cable Melbourne has grown into a recognised Australian womenswear brand, with boutiques and stockists across Australia and New Zealand, including David Jones. The brand’s Heritage 365 collection features Woolmark-certified Australian merino wool, reflecting an ongoing commitment to quality and traceability.
Cable Melbourne collections balance modern design with a focus on longevity. Knitwear sits at the core of the brand, alongside seasonal pieces designed to integrate into a considered, everyday wardrobe.
